PU runs at Southeast Regional

Wingate, NC Ė The Pfeiffer menís and womenís cross country teams competed in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday morning at Wingate University. The region includes approximately 30 schools from the Peach Belt, South Atlantic and Conference Carolinas. The menís team finished in 18th place, while the women placed 19th.

Pfeiffer was led by seniors AJ Pearson (Rockwell, NC) and Nick Jackson (New London, NC). Pearson ran a 36:39 within seconds of his time from last season and Jackson ran a personal best 37:43. Freshmen Cameron Auten (Indian Trail, NC) and Deandre Crayton (Houston, TX) competed in their first NCAA Regional and finished with times of 39:29 and 39:49, respectively. Sophomore Joseph Helms (Albemarle, NC) scored in the fifth position for Pfeiffer.

The Lady Falcons were led by senior twin sisters Samantha and Stephanie Rynas (Morehead City, NC). Samantha barely edged out her sister at the line as they both ran a time of 26:16 for the 6 kilometer race. Freshman Chessa Parisi (Harrisburg, NC) was Pfeiffer's third runner with a time of 26:39. Magen Abernathy (Norwood, NC), sidelined for the last week due to illness, finished fourth for Pfeiffer (30:40) and senior Ellen Humphrey (Newport, NC) was fifth (35:32).
