WLAX defeated in semifinals, 5-3

Gaffney, SC -- The Pfeiffer Falcons fell to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey 5-3 in the Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse semifinals on Saturday. The Falcons end their season 11-7 overall with the loss. The Crusaders (14-4 overall) will play the tournament host, Limestone, on Sunday at 2:00 PM in the tournament championship game.
The Crusaders’ Samantha Hooker (Salisbury, MD) and Laurie Jordan (Davidsonville, MD) scored two goals apiece as Shannon Farden (Oswego, NY) added another. Tara Chmil (Lake Mary, FL) led Belmont Abbey with four ground balls. Kate Gavin (Pasadena, MD) had 10 saves in goal.
The Abbey had a 3-1 lead at halftime, but both teams scored twice in the second period.
The Crusaders edged the Falcons in shots (18-15), ground balls (13-12), and draw controls (7-3). Belmont Abbey was 17-17 in clears as Pfeiffer was 19-26.
