Denton named head coach

Misenheimer, NC – Director of Athletics Bobby Stewart announces Elijah Denton has been named head coach for Pfeiffer women’s soccer.  “I am extremely excited to have Elijah at the helm of our women’s soccer program,” said Stewart.  “He was integral in leading our players to a Conference Carolinas tournament title and appearance in the NCAA regional tournament this past season and I am fully confident we will see further success with Elijah directing the program.”

Prior to being named head coach, Denton served as Pfeiffer women’s soccer’s first assistant for two years while teaching math at Covenant Classical School in Concord, NC.  Over his past seven years at Covenant, he gained further coaching experience with both the men’s and women’s varsity soccer teams.  Prior to Covenant, he coached the A.L. Brown men’s and women’s soccer programs for one year.  Denton also coached club soccer for TFC and FC Carolina Alliance on and off for five years and currently works with the NC Olympic Development Program.

"I am very excited to take over as the head coach of such a successful program as the one that exists here at Pfeiffer University,” said Denton.  “I want to thank Dr. Ambrose and Bobby Stewart for allowing me to continue to be part of such a wonderful community and for giving me the opportunity to continue to build on the success that the student-athletes have experienced on and off the field."

In 2001, Elijah received his Bachelors of Science at UNC Greensboro in Applied Mathematics.
