Falcons fly past Milligan

Misenheimer, NC -- The Pfeiffer menís and womenís swim team hosted Milligan College on Saturday afternoon. Pfeiffer won with a combined score of 202-147. The Falcons took first place in 18 out of the 22 events.

The Pfeiffer men won with a score of 107-74. The Falcons saw two first place finishes for Marc Kourie (Johannesburg, South Africa), both in the 400 yard medley relay and the 200 yard freestyle. Kourie was accompanied by Kevin Parks (Mesa, AZ), Zach McMichael (Raleigh, NC) and Patrick Porter (Kannapolis, NC). McMichael swam to first place finishes in the 1650 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. Porter led the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races. Porter almost bested his own school record for the 50 yard freestyle, but missed the mark by .1 seconds. Parks rounded out the menís top finishes in the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard breaststroke.

The Lady Falcons took home a 95-73 win. Hannah Fitzgibbons (Mt. Kisco, NY), Amanda Shields (Severna Park, MD), Nicole DiVaccaro (Woodstown, NJ), and Brittany Byrum (Matthews, NC) took first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Fitzgibbons also took first in the 1650 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle. Shields won the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke. DiVaccaro earned the top spot in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races. Byrum wrapped up the womenís first place finishes with a win in the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard butterfly.

Milligan saw top finishes for the womenís 400 yard medley relay, the menís 100 yard backstroke, the womenís 100 yard breaststroke, and the menís 400 yard freestyle relay.
