Tennis falls to Bobcats

Misenheimer, NC – The Pfeiffer men’s and women’s tennis teams both fell to the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College on Wednesday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play.  Each team dropped their matches by the same score of 2-7. The Falcons’ overall records both rest at 7-10 on the season. Lees-McRae tennis currently sits in the top spot in the conference.  The men are 14-5 and the women are 12-4.

The women came out strong and proved to the Bobcats that they were a worthy opponent.  Patty Dominguez and Brittany Dickens (Wake Forest, NC) were victorious 9-7 in their doubles match, while Catie Thomas (Asheboro, NC) and Amanda Huffaker (Maryville, TN) won the third doubles match 8-6.  Despite competitive matches, the Pfeiffer women were swept in singles play.

The Pfeiffer men managed two wins against the Bobcats.  Philip Lawson (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Johan deWit (Windhoek, Namibia) were victorious in the first doubles match 8-5.  DeWit tallied Pfeiffer’s second win of the day by default in the third singles match.
