SAAC gives parents a night out
December 9, 2008
Misenheimer, NC- Pfeiffer’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised $180 for the Make-A-Wish foundation during the first Parents’ Night Out event hosted at Pfeiffer University. The event brought together student-athletes and children from around the community to enjoy a night of fun games and an exciting basketball game.
Parents’ Night Out drew in 18 children who were able to spend the evening with 20 Pfeiffer athletes representing men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse, swimming, cross country, softball, and baseball. The children ate dinner with the student-athletes, played games, and created a banner in support of the women’s basketball team. All of the participants also got their chance to compete on the main floor at half time in a dizzy bat contest, with the winners receiving Pfeiffer Athletics t-shirts. The men’s and women’s basketball team even lined up to sign autographs after the game. While the children bonded with the Falcon student-athletes their parents had a night of fun on their own.
Parents’ Night Out was deemed a success all around with everyone having fun and raising almost $200 for Make-A-Wish. SAAC plans on hosting another Parent’s night out for one of the men’s basketball games later in the season.
