Women's Volleybal Sweeps Converse 3-0 for Sixth-Straight Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women’s volleyball team captured its sixth-straight Conference Carolinas victory with a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-21) sweep over the visiting Converse Valkyries on Saturday afternoon inside the Merner Gym. The Lady Falcons improve to 9-6 overall, 6-1 in the conference while Converse falls to 6-12, 1-5.
Converse’s Caitlyn Hemm (Glendale, AZ) led all attackers offensively with 11 kills on the day. Brittany Dickens (Raleigh, NC) followed for the Lady Falcons with nine match kills. Junior transfer Kristina Mordini (Freeport, IL) racked up eight kills while Jerrica Massey (Fort Lawn, SC) and Alaina Smith (Stone Mountain, GA), along with Abbie Ovbey (Mt. Gilead, NC) from Pfeiffer, each had six kills respectively.
Pfeiffer hit at 22% for the match, including a 30% total in set two. Converse started the day hitting at a 25% clip in set one, before finishing the day at 14%. For the setters, Vanessa Gerig (Towanda, IL) led the way for Pfeiffer dishing out 24 assists, while Lauren Hunsberger (Duncan, SC) led the Valkyries with 17.
Pfeiffer will look to continue its win streak in another home contest on Wednesday night. The Lady Falcons will host Belmont Abbey in a Conference Carolinas tilt beginning at 7:00 p.m.
