Women's Cross Country Finishes 18th overall; 5th amongst D2 Schools at Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women’s cross country team placed 18th at the Charlotte Invitational on Friday afternoon, hosted by UNC-Charlotte at McAlpine Park.
Reigning Conference Carolinas runner of the week Lindsey Phillips paced the Lady Falcons with a 70th place finish out of 209 entries. Phillips clocked in just under the 20-minute mark at 19:45 in the 5k run.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Mullis finished second on the squad in 102nd place with a time of 20:40. Crossing the line third for the Lady Falcons was junior Magen Abernathy, placing 110th with a 21:23. The final two scoring times for Pfeiffer on Friday were Yasmin Ingram with a 23:56 and Chelsea Tysinger clocking in at 24:04.
Having breathing room with an extra runner, April Hinson wrapped up the Lady Falcon times with a 24:55. Pfeiffer placed fifth amongst division two schools in the meet.
Host UNC-Charlotte took home top team honors in the women’s race, placing their top five runners within the top-15. Clemson’s Kim Ruck took home individual honors crossing the finish line with a 17:02.
The women will now take an extra day off and prepare for next Saturday’s Livingstone Invitational in Salisbury, NC. Meet time is set for 9:00 a.m.
