Men's Lacrosse adds Torkington to Coaching Staff

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University athletic director Bobby Stewart, along with head coach Pete Milliman, announced the addition of Steve Torkington as the new men’s lacrosse assistant coach. Torkington comes to Misenheimer after leaving his duties as a part-time coach at his alma mater, Coronado High School.
A native of Coronado, CA, played for four years during his high school tenure under head coach Alex Cade. Torkington was an AA attack man in 2004 and all San Diego county selection in ’02, ’03, ’04. After high school, Torkington went on to play as a midfielder at Wingate University from 2005-2008. Following awards for being the Deep South Conference tournament MVP in 2007 and first-team all-conference in 2008, Torkington went on to play in the 2008 USILA North-South Senior Showcase All-Star Game.
During time away from Wingate in the summer, Torkington spent his time coaching several high school travel teams in the San Diego area with the Dawgs. After graduation, Torkington spent a year in Beaver Creek, Colorado as a snowboard instructor.
Torkington, the son of Adrian and Martha Torkington, has one brother, Roger. Torkington will be the assistant/offensive coordinator for men’s lacrosse with other responsibilities in recruiting.
