Knight and Barbosa Take Home Another Postseason Award; Represent Men's Soccer on NC All-State Team

GREENSBORO, NC Ė Twelve student-athletes from five institutions comprise the 2009 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association College Division Menís soccer team. The NCCSIA All State team is headlined by five representatives from NCAA Division II national finalist Lees-McRae College.The team consists of student-athletes from NCAA Division II and Division III colleges and universities throughout the state. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted nominees and NCCSIA members selected the teams.
The All-State unit consists of one goalkeeper, three defenders, five midfielders, and three forwards. All student-athletes involved with ties in the voting process were included on the All-State team.
Pfeiffer University had two selections at the midfield: Renato Barbosa (Charlotte, N.C.) and Kash Knight (Gibsonville, N.C.). A senior, Barbosa netted 6 goals and 7 assists for the Falcons and was a Daktronics Second Team All-Southeast Region player. A Daktronics First Team All-Southeast Region selection, sophomore Knight posted 33 points (14 goals, 5 assists) for a Pfeiffer team that went 13-5 in 2009.
Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The organization seeks to promote collegiate athletics and student-athletes at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCSSIA selects All-State teams for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, menís and womenís basketball, softball and baseball on the College (Division II, III, NAIA) and University (Division I) levels. More than 750 student-athletes have been recognized on NCCSIA All-State teams since 2003.
