MISENHEIMER, N.C. – In front of a packed house in their final home meet of the 2009-2010 season, the Pfeiffer University men’s swim team fell just short of Catawba College 141-107 dual meet on Friday night in the Merner Pool. The regular season has to come an end as both the men and women’s teams begin training for the Bluegrass Conference Meet to be held in Charlotte February 17-20.
Catawba out-touched the Falcons by two short seconds in event one, the 200 yard medley relay, that set a back-and-forth tone for the night. Edwin Torres took home the first win for the Falcons in the 200 freestyle (1:48.39) before Kevin Parks won the very next event, the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.61.
Torres scored another win in the 100 freestyle (49.25) just after Zach McMichael (52.21) took the narrow win in the 100 butterfly. Parks again went victorious in the 100 backstroke (57.99) before Catawba rallied to win four of the final five events. Patrik Persson broke up the Indians streak with a win in the 400 yard individual medley clocking in at 4:36.42.
