February 24, 2010
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University softball team will host the first annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day this Friday, February 26th at 2:00 p.m. The Lady Falcons will honor and recognize those who have served, have family that has served or is currently serving our country. Pfeiffer will even wear camouflaged jerseys during their doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College, donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Clack, in honor of their son Sergeant Joe Blaine Guyer, III. This is a new community event and is open to the public and all Armed Forces personnel free of charge.
Before the softball action begins, all former and current members of the Armed Forces will be invited out onto the field to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Before the college first pitch at 2:00 p.m., both teams will recognize those in attendance who have served before a local color guard presents the colors before the National Anthem.
