Demers Paces Lady Falcons to Fourth Place Finish at Fighting Camel Classic

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Led by Chelsea Demers back-to-back rounds of 78, the Pfeiffer University women’s golf team finished fourth in the Fighting Camel Classic hosted by Campbell University at the par 72, 6,012 yard Keith Hills Country Club. Mary Mattson of Campbell took home individual honors firing a tournament total two-under par (73/70) 143 leading the hosts to the team victory.

Play wrapped up just before snow entered the Buies Creek area as the Lady Falcons finished seven strokes shy of the top three. Jackie McMenimon finished inside the top-20 with rounds of 87 and 77 for Pfeiffer while Alison Cowles finished T-25 with 80-87. Rene Kelly shot a two-day tournament total of 170 while Elizabeth Johnson shot 185.

Pfeiffer will return to the links next Monday/Tuesday hosting the Dana Rader Intercollegiate in Charlotte.
