Team Pfeiffer Cycling Still Atop the ACCC Standings; Three Falcons Still Lead Overall

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – After last weekend’s racing at William and Mary, Team Pfeiffer Cycling still holds its lead atop the Atlantic Coast Cycling Conference standings, but Duke and George Washington gained second and third place ground on the Falcons. Pfeiffer now holds a 40 point lead heading into an un-scheduled off weekend as the events at Maryland have already been cancelled due to impending wet weather.

Losing ground in Saturday’s time trials, Pfeiffer had to bounce back in the road races Saturday. At the beginning, it looked like Team Pfeiffer Cycling was going to continue its rough weekend as Eric Sekercan began the men’s “D” race by puncturing a tire that took him out of the race. Sekercan does still lead overall by five points.

In the men’s “B” field, Michael Brown took seventh just in front of teammate Arturo Bencosme. Michael Robinson finished seventh in the men’s “A” while Duke and George Washington each had racers in the final break, holding on for top finishes to gain ground on Pfeiffer.

On the women’s side, Paige Beard took second in the women’s “C” event while Stephanie Bunnett scored the victory in the “B.” Kirsten Fee took second in the “A” race, retaining second overall in her category. Beard and Bunnett hold on to their top spots in their respective fields as well.
