Seven Goals in the Third Send Men's Lacrosse Past AIC 12-7

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University tallied seven third period goals en route to a 12-7 victory over American International in non-conference men’s lacrosse on Saturday afternoon. The victory, thanks to three goals from Chad Olsen, Dan Mesler and Justin Rose moves the Falcons to 3-5 while the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-3.
Each side traded a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes as Nick Berkompas started things off for the Falcons while Olsen scored with one tick left to square the contest at 2-2. Connor Wager and Brett Serriello tallied in between for AIC.
In the second, both teams scored three apiece carrying a 5-5 game into the half. Alex Walter struck first for the Yellow Jackets in front of Olsen 39 seconds later. Alex Casparius put AIC back up 4-3 before Mesler and Rose went back-to-back in a two goal swing 1:26 apart. American International’s Dan MacIssac scored with 3:39 to go ending the half’s scoring.
After Aaron McNab tallied 84 seconds into the third, Pfeiffer took over with a barrage of seven-straight to earn the win. Kory Lutes got in on the scoring action with an assist from Mesler before Berkompas helped out with another Rose and Lutes strike. Mesler again scored the assist as Olsen notched his third of the afternoon, before scoring his second and third on assists from Lutes and Berkompas. Rose finished off the Yellow Jackets with the seventh and final Falcons goal.
Pfeiffer will now take a week off from game action, returning home to take on Wingate next Saturday afternoon. The Falcons and Bulldogs will face-off at 1:00 p.m.
