Kennedy Puts in Five; Lady Falcons Slow Second Half Start Costly in 15-10 Loss to Molloy

SEVERNA PARK, M.D. – Jessica Kennedy tallied a team-high five goals but it wasn’t enough as Molloy slid past #10 Pfeiffer 15-10 in non-conference women’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. The Lions scored nine second half goals improving to 5-1 on the year while the Lady Falcons fall to 8-3.
Pfeiffer notched the first couple of goals in the contest with the extra attacker as Heidi Karaszkiewicz and Amanda Smith scored for a 2-0 lead a dozen minutes in. Molloy came right back to take a 3-2 advantage on goals by Kristie Sosnowski, Emily Antonette, and Lori Sollitto in a 1:23 second span.
Kennedy registered her first of the day to tie it up at the halfway mark of the first before the Lions again came back with a pair of tallies by Kerianne Steine and Sollitto for a 5-3 game with 4:53 remaining. This time, Pfeiffer fired back with three straight, two by Kennedy, one by Alex Cook, for a 6-5 advantage with 3:19 left. The Lions Hayley Lacey evened up the first half with a strike at 2:02 as both teams had six on the scoreboard at the intermission.
Molloy opened things up quickly in the second half scoring eight unanswered goals to begin the stanza. Sollitto led that stretch with three goals as four of the eight came with the man advantage. Kennedy tried to bring with Lady Falcons back with two more hits at 6:16 and 5:38, as did Sarah Hebberd and Cook with tallies at 5:10 and 4:08, but the Lady Falcons eventually ran out of time.
Pfeiffer will have another tough test on Sunday taking on third-ranked C.W. Post. The match will be played in Severna Park, Maryland beginning at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
