Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball.
The first team is dominated by upper classmen as four seniors, as well as one junior, comprise the squad. The quintet combined to record a collective .716 winning percentage this season, while three student-athletes led their squads to NCAA postseason appearances.
Pfeiffer’s Chris Woods, the only non-senior to grace the first team squad, averaged 22.4 points (10th nationally) and 7.3 rebounds in just more than 24 minutes per game on the floor to lead the Falcons to an 18-10 record, as well as the NCAA team statistical championship in points per game (103.1). Woods connected on better than 60 percent of his shots from the field, as well as a deadly 77.7 percent accuracy from the free throw stripe, and posted six double-double performances. He scored 30 or more points in five games, including a 32-point, 17-rebound effort against Mount Olive in which he hit on 50 percent of his shots from the field and 80 percent of his free throw attempts. Woods was also named an All-American Honorable Mention by the Division II Bulletin.
