Women's Lacrosse Ends Season with 21-9 Loss to Top-Seeded Limestone in Conference Semifinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Limestone College’s Chelsea Treat scored a game-high six goals as the top-seeded Lady Saints scored a 21-9 victory over fourth-seeded Pfeiffer University in the first of two semifinal matches at the 2010 Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse tournament held at the Queens Sports Park. Limestone, ranked nationally inside the top-10 all year, improves to 15-1 overall and advance to Sunday championship contest. Pfeiffer’s season comes to an end at 11-7.
Limestone tallied the game’s first eight goals as Kelly Lalonde notched the first tally just 11 seconds into the contest. Treat notched her first just 24 seconds later before Kelly Oterson scored her first of two at the 28:35 mark for a 3-0 lead.
Renee Albro, Raquel Prager, Britt Howard and two more by Treat put the Lady Saints up eight before Pfeiffer’s Jessica Moulton struck on an assist from Jessica Kennedy with 14:24 to play in the half. Albro, Oterson, and Treat all tallied again in a three-minute span before Kennedy and Moulton flipped positions for the Lady Falcons second goal at 6:08. Treat scored Limestone’s final two in the first half while Kennedy scored man-down with just under a minute to play.
Prager started the scoring again in the second half just 30 seconds in before Lalonde, Howard and Prager again for two made it an 18-3 contest with 19:59 to go in the game. Heidi Karaszkiewicz and Alex Cook scored back-to-back for Pfeiffer exactly one minute a part. After Prager’s fifth and final score, Pfeiffer scored three-straight thanks to Kennedy, Natalie Marvin and Moulton with just over eight minutes remaining. Casey Wilcox furthered Limestone’s lead with 2:53 left on the clock before Karaszkiewicz and Albro finished out scoring on the afternoon.
