Women's Soccer Adds Four More to Incoming Class; 14 Total to Help Lady Falcons in Fall of 2010
May 20, 2010
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Four more student-athletes of the incoming class of 2014 will join the Lady Falcon soccer program in the fall announced by head coach Elijah Denton. Devon Klyce, Leticia Patino, Rachael Shapelow and Jessyca Woodward will join 10 other newcomers entering the village in August for their inaugural campaigns.
Klyce, flocking from Cape Coral, Florida, comes to Pfeiffer after a pair of seasons as the top goal scorer in the state of Florida with Evangelical Christian School. In addition, Klyce found herself as the county’s top scorer and team MVP as the best offensive player for three-straight years with the Sentinels. Klyce was also named a first-team member for two years and area player of the week.
Patino ventures to Misenheimer from East Bend and Forbush High School. Patino racked up awards in all four seasons with the Falcons. A National Honor Society member, Patino scored MVC All-Conference and All-Region awards in each of her first three seasons. The striker was named team captain and MVP before being selected as the offensive player of the year in 2009 and member of North Carolina’s all-state team in 2010.
Shapelow transfers to Pfeiffer from the College of Southern Maryland after recording a team-high nine goals in 2009. Shapelow was tabbed to the second-team all Maryland junior college squad and a first-team all-region member in high school. Shapelow will enroll academic wise into pre-med.
On the defensive side, Woodward comes in via Fuquay-Varina as a transfer from Louisburg College. Woodward looks to immediately help the Lady Falcon defense that held opponents to just 1.27 goals per game last fall. Academically at Louisburg, Woodward was awarded the Lee Fowler Silver Medal for her 3.5 grade point average, also being named to the Dean’s List both semesters this year. A former captain in high school, Woodward also helps out as a coach for youth soccer team for her four years with the Fuquay-Varina Athletic Association.
