Yates Introduced as New Head Coach of Lady Falcons Softball

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Amy Yates, assistant coach at Limestone College, has been named the new head coach of Pfeiffer University softball announced by athletic director Bobby Stewart on Monday. Yates spent three seasons with her alma mater as an assistant responsible for recruiting, pitch calling and team travel.
Yates helped Limestone to back-to-back regular season titles in 2009 and 2010, setting a new school record for wins in a season with 40 this past spring. Yates guided one of her hurlers to being a co-player of the year in Conference Carolinas with two individuals ranking #9 and #17 nationwide in earned run average. Limestone as a team ranked #26 in the same category.
Before her trio of seasons at Limestone, Yates spent a year at Newberry as a softball assistant involved with the same duties as at Limestone. Yates also sent Newberry to a new program record for wins in 2007 with 34 victories.
In her playing days, Yates was a four-time all-conference selection at shortstop and a two-time all-tournament team selection with the Lady Saints. In 2003, Yates was named the CVAC freshman player of the year and team MVP. Yates departed Limestone holding the career mark for doubles with 56 while ranking top-five in career hits, runs, stolen bases, home runs, games played, RBI and triples. After a pair of CVAC all-academic team awards, Yates was named to the all-time all-CVAC team.
“We are very excited to have Amy join our staff here at Pfeiffer,” stated Stewart. “Her qualifications and past accomplishments made her the best fit to lead our softball program into the future.”
Yates currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, graduating from Limestone in 2006. Yates also grasps a minor in History leaving as a member of the honors program.
