Freshman Golfer Finishes T-1st; Men's Golf Comes In 12th at Top Notch Kiawah Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Pfeiffer University men’s golf team finished 12th out of 21 teams at the 2010 Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by USC-Aiken. Freshman Luiz Jacintho finished in a tie for first shooting a two-day total of 141 (70/71) with Barton’s Daniel Claytor. Claytor won a four-hole playoff to claim medalist honors.
Barton won the team title shooting 582 finishing two shots ahead of USC-Beaufort at the 6,875-yard, par 72 Cougar Point Golf Course. In one of the toughest fields of the year, Pfeiffer finished second behind Coker amongst Conference Carolinas schools.
Behind Jacintho, Jonathan Miles finished tied for 26th with a 149 (78/71) while Cameron Fields carded a nine-over, 153 (78/75). J.D. Lamm and Garrett Dranichak rounded out Pfeiffer’s scoring with a 163 (81/82) and 165 (79/86).
The Falcons will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, September 13th and 14th at the Anderson Invitational in Anderson, S.C.
