MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė Lees-McRae senior Whitney Justice (Connelly Springs, NC) put down a match high 24 kills hitting .639 as the Lady Bobcats scored a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22) win over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas womenís volleyball action on Tuesday night. The victory keeps Lees-McRae unbeaten in conference play now 10-0, 12-6 overall. The Lady Falcon loss snaps a three-game league unbeaten streak falling to 3-12, 3-5.

As a team, the Lady Bobcats hit .336 in the win despite falling in the opening set to the Lady Falcons. Meme Brown (Boonville, NC) put Lees-McRae up 5-1 early with her first kill of the night before an Anna Vizvary (North Augusta, SC) kill started a tying trend to the finish. Justice tied the contest at 13 and 14 with a pair of kills before a Mordini throw down and two Lees-McRae errors forced a timeout with a 17-15 Pfeiffer advantage. Down by three, Justice would lead a mini comeback with Megan Epperson (St. John, IN) at 23-23, but a Lady Bobcat error and kill by Milana Mervosh (Roebuck, SC) gave the hosts an early one set lead.

Pfeiffer carried a little momentum into set two as another one of Mordiniís team-high 14 kills squared the contest at eight apiece. After a four-point spurt by Lees-McRae, Pfeiffer clawed back with a kill by Abbie Ovbey (Mt. Gilead, NC) and ace by Mervosh that put the Lady Falcons up 18-17. Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, NC) brought the visitors back at 19-19 in front of a Chloe Casas (Plane, TX) ace that gave Lees-McRae the lead for good. Casas would serve out the rest of set two with another Justice kill, before Clendenin ended it after three Pfeiffer miscues.

The Lady Falcons again came out early in set three with a 14-9 advantage after an Ovbey kill as Mervosh and Jordan O'Bryant (Reidsville, NC) maintained the five-point lead doing the same to 16-11. Back-to-back kills by Epperson, who had three in a five-play span, brought the Lady Bobcats back with a 16-16 set. Outscoring the Lady Falcons 9-5 at the end, a pair of kills and ace by Clendenin with another Justice slam put Lees-McRae up 2-1 in the match. Pfeiffer out-hit .400 in set three while the Lady Bobcats hit .394.

Justice stepped up in set four with 10 of her 24 kills in the final stanza alone as both teams again played tight throughout the set. Three-straight errors by Lees-McRae put Pfeiffer up 20-19, before Megan Mitchell (Minden, NV) and Justice put kills in between a Lady Falcon error and timeout to regain the lead for good. Justice closed out the match with two more quick throw downs for the 25-22 set and 3-1 match win.

Behind Justice, Epperson followed in the kill department with 17 while Clendenin hit .429 in the match with 15. After Mordiniís 14 kills for Pfeiffer, Mervosh was the next closest with nine. Mitchell had a game-high 55 assists for the visitors while Lady Falcon libero Kaci Markham (Asheboro, NC) led all with 14 digs. As a team, Lees-McRae hit over .366 in all three of their set wins.

Pfeiffer will return to the hardwood on Friday night traveling to Coker for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Lady Cobras.
