Women's Volleyball Makes Up for Earlier Loss to Barton; Scores 3-0 Sweep in Wilson on Friday

WILSON, N.C. – Pfeiffer University hit .333 as a team to sweep Barton College 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-23) in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball action on Friday night. The victory avenges an earlier home loss to the Bulldogs last month as the Lady Falcons improve to 5-12 overall, 5-5 in league play while the Bulldogs drop to 11-10, 7-4 with the loss.
Kristina Mordini (Freeport, IL) put down a match-high 22 kills hitting .436 in the win. Jordan O'Bryant (Reidsville, NC) and Abbie Ovbey (Mt. Gilead, NC) each followed with nine. Setter Colleen Wands (Apex, NC) had a match-high 41 assists while libero Kaci Markham led the way in the dig department with an even dozen.
Barton received 10 kills apiece by Melissa Ritter and Meagan Parrott. Carly Love helped the hitters out with 30 assists on the night while six different Lady Bulldogs had at-least three digs.
As a team, the numbers in the hitting category got better as the night went on for the Lady Falcons. Set one saw the visitors hit .282 followed by .324 in the middle and .395 to complete the sweep. Pfeiffer will now continue their weekend trip up north with a 2:00 p.m. matinee matchup at Mount Olive on Saturday.
