Women's Basketball Puts Five in Double-Figures During 40-Point Win at Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Pfeiffer University drained 14 three-point shots placing five players in double-digits as the Lady Falcons registered an 83-43 victory in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Wednesday night. The win moves Pfeiffer to 3-4 overall, 2-0 in league play while the Lady Bobcats fall to 0-6, 0-1.
Christina Harvey up Pfeiffer up 16-0 early on with a layup at the 14:28 mark until Zukye Smith layup got Lees-McRae on the board 30 seconds later. Pfeiffer pushed the advantage out to as much as 34 with under five minutes remaining on layups by Brittany Cox and triple by Celeste Caudill. Sam Craven scored three of her game-high 17 points midway through the second half to put Pfeiffer up as much as 50 until a final push by the Lady Bobcats and back-to-back baskets by Icey Patterson cut the deficit to 36.
Behind Craven’s 17 points, Olivia Surratt scored 13 points off the bench while Cox and Harvey had identical double-doubles with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Caudill rounded out the double-figure scoring with 11. For the Lady Bobcats, Patterson led the way with a dozen points.
Pfeiffer will return to action one final time in 2010 heading to Charleston Southern for a division one contest next Saturday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m.
