Woods Earns Second Player of the Week Honors This Season After Monsterous First Week of the New Year

HIGH POINT, N.C.†- Pfeiffer Universityís Chris Woods has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas menís Basketball Player of the Week during week number six in the 2010-2011 season. Woods, from Thomasville, NC, continued to tear through his senior season by averaging another weekly double-double crossing the 30-point plateau twice.
Woods started his post winter break with 25 points and 12 rebounds in a league win over Barton. The preseason all-America played in 38+ minutes going 9-of-16 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. The senior followed that performance up with 30 points and a new career high 20 rebounds in a 15 point win over Mount Olive. He, played in 36+ minutes, went 10-of-12 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 at the charity stripe. Woods finished with five blocks nearly getting into triple-double range.
The week wrapped up with 36 minutes against Limestone tossing in another 30 points with 11 boards, one block and one steal. Woods shot 50% going 9-of-18 and 12-of-13 at the free throw line. For his impressive week, Woods shot 61% from the field, 94% from the free throw line and yanked down 43 boards (15 offensive). In addition to his six blocks, five assists and two steals, Woods averaged 28.3 points and 14.3 rebounds in 110 minutes of action.
Woods and the Falcons stand at 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference and will get back to action on Wednesday, weather permitting, hosting the University of D.C. and league-rival Queens on Saturday. This is the second week this year the senior has received this award repeating the honor from week number one in the season.
