LAURINBURG, N.C. Ė St. Andrews Presbyterian College converted 43 free throws out of 54 chances to grab a 136-126 overtime win over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas menís basketball on Tuesday night. The Knights win their third-straight contest, second-straight in extra basketball, improving to 7-7 overall, 4-3 in league play. Chris Woods (Thomasville, NC) scored a game high 37 points as the Falcons shot just 53% from the charity stripe falling to 6-8, 4-3.

In the overtime, St. Andrews took over at the 3:47 mark with a triple from Ross Williams (Washington, DC) and three-point play by Ryan Streater (Charlotte, NC). Pfeiffer never saw the lead in the extra session from that point on. Woods and Pettiway (Edgewood, MD) both fouled out in the overtime period at the 3:28 and 2:41 marks.

In the second half, Pfeiffer took its largest lead of the night with 11:48 remaining on back-to-back put-backs by Woods and Shank Ranganathan (Sugarland, TX). A free throw by Williams tied the contest at 95-95 with just under four minutes left as St. Andrews carried the lead down to the final seconds. With the clock at 2.8 seconds, Pettiway would drain a fade-away three to tie the score at 110. A last ditch effort for the Knights fell short at the buzzer.

Pfeiffer trailed early on in the first half until a Davon Gilliard (Charleston, SC) three-point play tied the contest at 8-8 with four and a half minutes gone by. Both teams went back and forth as Woods helped put the Falcons up twice in a 35 seconds span with back-to-back buckets in the paint.

Down again by a pair, Pfeiffer came back to take the lead again on a triple by Josh Humphrey (Matthews, NC) with 8:42 remaining before the break. The two teams combined for 11 lead changes in the first half. As time ticked down, Woods put in four more of his 14 first-half points while Reggie Hollinger hit his only free throw of the half for a 46-45 Falcon lead at the intermission.

Behind Woods, Pettiway finished with 23 points followed closely by Reggie Hollingerís (Orlando, FL) 22. For the Knights, Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) led the way with 29 points.

The Falcons will now take three days off before heading to Belmont Abbey on Saturday night. Tip time with the Crusaders in set for 7:30 p.m.
