For the Third Time in 2010-2011, Woods Receives Conference Player of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the third team this season, Pfeiffer University’s Chris Woods (Thomasville, NC) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men’s basketball Player of the Week during week number nine in the 2010-2011 season. For the second-consecutive week and third time this season, Woods averaged another 30-point, double-double week for the Falcons.
In a Conference Carolinas win over Coker, Woods deposited 33 points while pulling down 12 boards in a five-point win over the Cobras. Woods, who hit his first career three-pointer in the final two minutes, also contributed with three blocks and a pair of assists.
In a last second loss at UDC on Saturday, the senior forward led with another game high 38 points and 13 rebounds to go along with two more assists and a block. For the week, Woods shot 57% from the floor and 92% from the charity stripe going 22-of-24 from the line. Woods remains in the top-five nationally for points per game and rebounds per game.
This is the third week Woods has received player of the week honors, repeating week one and six in the season. The Falcons are back on the hardwood Wednesday hosting Lees-McRae before heading to Limestone on Saturday.
