Both Sides of Falcon Tennis Fall 6-3 at USC-Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. – The Pfeiffer University men’s and women’s tennis teams each dropped 6-3 decisions on Saturday afternoon at USC-Aiken. The #25 Pacer men improve to 4-4 overall while the Falcons fall to 3-1. The Lady Pacers advance to 5-5 while the Lady Falcons dip to 2-3.
USCA held a 2-1 lead after doubles on the men’s side as Sid Kaushik and Luis Villalta were able to secure the lone Falcon point with an 8-4 set win at #2 doubles. In singles action, Johan de Wit and Stephen Tyndel notched victory for Pfeiffer as de Wit went five and two at #2 while Tyndel needed a 10-3 win in set three for the point.
On the women’s side, Pfeiffer dug an early hole dropping all three doubles contests before splitting the six singles matches. Alena Krutkina registered a three and three win at #1, Cari Hopson took the first set 7-5 before winning on a retirement up 1-0 in set two, while Briana Oliver in the fifth spot scored a 6-0, 2-6, 10-7 win.
Women’s tennis will host Converse in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday while the men’s next match comes next Saturday at Erskine.
