Yellow Jackets Sting Lady Falcon Softball in Friday Sweep

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - West Virginia State swept a pair of softball contests from Pfeiffer University 8-3 and 6-2 at Jack Ingram Field on Friday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improve to 14-6 while the Lady Falcons fall to 13-19.
In game one, WVSU used three multi-run innings in the third, fifth and seventh pulling away for good with three in the final frame. Pfeiffer plated single runs in each of the second, fifth and sixth's innings. Brittany Hyatt and Kayla Sturms each had three RBI in the opener for the Yellow Jackets. Hannah Jackson, Rachel LaBar and Andrea Wagner each had run-scoring hits in the loss.
In the nightcap, WVSU broke up a scoreless game in the fourth before blowing it open with three in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Pfeiffer's pair of runs came later in the sixth. Five different Yellow Jackets picked up RBI while three had multi-hit games. For Pfeiffer, LaBar was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
Pfeiffer returns to league action on Sunday with a doubleheader at Lees-McRae. First pitch in game one is set for 1:00 p.m.
