Jacintho Breaks Two School Records with Final Round 65; Men's Golf Shatters Two Records in 2011 Pfeiffer Intercollegiate Win

BADIN, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Luiz Jacintho fired a school record six-under-par 65 to take home individual medalist honors as the Falcons scored a 20-shot victory over Bluefield State College at the 2011 Pfeiffer Intercollegiate. Jacintho also broke the school record for two-day event total while as a team, Pfeiffer set new school marks in one-day and two-day event totals.
After starting his day with a bogey on the par-4 third, Jacintho bounced back for birdies at the par-5 fourth and par-4 sixth to start his final round. Closing out his first turn through the front nine with a birdie at nine on the 209-yard par-3, Jacintho would record three more birdies in a four-hole stretch on the backside, before converting on an eagle on his 17th hole of the day, the par-4 first. Jacintho breaks the individual round record by two shots while tying the school mark with his two-day total of 138.
As a team, all four scores counted on Tuesday were under par with Cameron Fields and Michael Blair each carding two-under 69’s on the 6,397-yard, par-71 layout at the Badin Inn Resort and Golf Club. Both finished four shots better than their first round 73’s on Tuesday. Thomas Sennett rounded out team scoring with a one-under 70 to finish at 143. Pfeiffer set new school records in the team categories of lowest one round total (273) and overall two-day event total (565) with Tuesday’s circuits.
Cody Robertson of Limestone finished in the runners-up spot with a 69 on Tuesday for a tournament total of 139. Tyson Louth, playing as an individual for Pfeiffer, finished third overall with his second-consecutive 70 on Tuesday while Fields and Blair concluded tied for fourth. Bluefield State College fired a team total of 585 to finish second in the team race while Brevard rounded out the top three with a 587.
