December 3, 2011
LINCOLN, P.A. - Lincoln University's Denzel Mooney scored a game-high 24 points while crossing the career 1,000-point plateau during a 76-64 victory over Pfeiffer University in non-conference basketball action on Saturday night. The win pushes Lincoln to 5-4 on the year while the Falcons dip to 4-3.
Pfeiffer never had the lead on Saturday coming as close as a 20-20 tie with 7:43 remaining in the first after a layup by Elijah Matthews. The Falcons cut it down to one on several occasions in both halves, but couldn't put the score in their favor.
The Falcons shot 42% from the field only to have their defense let down allowing Lincoln to shoot 47% in the 12-point win. Danny Smith led the visitors with 20 points while Matthews finished with 13. Reggie Hollinger came up one point short of Matthews with 12. Mooney was one of four in double-figures for the hosts.
Pfeiffer will now take time off to prepare for this coming week's final exams. The Falcons will return to the hardwood on Friday, December 16th hosting Barber Scotia at 7:00 p.m.
