Third-Straight Contest of Double-Digit Three-Point Shooting Leads Women's Basketball to 73-63 Win at Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. - Pfeiffer University shot nearly 43% from the field while reaching double-digits in three-pointers made for the third-consecutive game during a 73-63 victory at Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas women's basketball on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons scored their fifth-straight win over the Bobcats improving to 8-5 overall, 2-1 in league play. Lees-McRae falls to 5-5, 1-3 after Saturday's defeat.

Both teams went back-and-forth in an even first half of action as a Sam Craven three put Pfeiffer up as much as seven late in the period while the Bobcats stormed back to tie the contest at 31 after a Paige Whitaker triple dropped in with 2:09 before the break. Trailing by three with half a minute left, Jodie Lemons knocked down one of her three long-range shots with 26 ticks left for a 36-36 contest at the intermission.

Pfeiffer took control of the second half just over four minutes in as a pair of Vontreece Hayes jumpers and free throws started a 15-0 run by the visitors extended by two more baskets by Craven and a triple from Kellie Rhoney. Another  12-0 stretch put the Lady Falcons up as much as 20 and 22 in the win.

Brittany Cox again led the way with 17 points finishing one rebound shy of a double-double. Hayes posted 15, Craven dropped in 14 while Haley Grimsley contributed with 12. Pfeiffer shot an identical 12-for-28 in each half during the win. Whitaker paced the Bobcats with 14 along with DeAnna Waters.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Wednesday night traveling down to Queens for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Royals. Due to a new gym facility being built at Queens, all remaining contests, including Wednesday, will be played at the nearby Grady Cole Center.
