Poor Shooting Night Results in 83-64 Loss for Men's Basketball at Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Using a +12 rebound margin and a 47% shooting percentage, Coker College claimed an 83-64 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Tuesday night. The win sends the Cobras to 8-9 overall, 2-6 in league play while the Falcons drop to 9-9, 3-5.
A free throw by the Falcons' Josh Humphrey gave Pfeiffer their final lead of the night at 11-9, 7:14 into the first half. A pair of Danny Smith free throws cut it down to seven, before his layup at the buzzer cut the Coker lead to 38-30 at the break.
Early in the second half, the Cobras took control after a triple by Andrew Morris put the hosts up 13, 45-32, before Pfeiffer's Desmond Thomas sliced it to a half-dozen with 12:56 to play. Down by as many as 17, the Falcons got it down to 10 with 4:10 left, but Coker closed out the contest on an 11-2 run for the 19-point win.
Smith and this week's league player of the week Reggie Hollinger led with a game-high 17 each while Sharod Williams and Charles West paced Coker with 14 apiece.
