Oliver Secures Match-Winning Point as Women's Tennis Sneaks Past Catawba 5-4

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Briana Oliver registered the match-winning point at #4 singles as Pfeiffer University claimed a narrow 5-4 victory over Catawba College in women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Falcons even to 3-3 on the year while the Indians drop to 5-3.

The match came down to Oliver and Steffi Cook of Catawba after Maggie McKee scored 11-straight games to roar back from a 1-6, 7-5, 6-0 win at #3 singles over Chelsi Haefele. McKee was down 5-2 in the second set before her comeback. Other singles victories saw Alena Krutkina and Taylor Lindsay win convincingly in straight-sets at #1 and #2. Krutkina won 6-1, 6-0 while Lindsay went one and two.

Doubles action saw Pfeiffer score two early points as Krutkina/Lindsay rolled 8-1 at number one while Oliver/Haefele won 8-2.

Pfeiffer returns to the courts on Thursday hosting Meredith at the Knapp Tennis Center.
