Bulmer Leads Men's Golf to 2012 Irish Creek Intercollegiate Title after Day Two Comeback

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Trailing Queens University of Charlotte by one after the first round of the 2012 Irish Creek Collegiate, host Pfeiffer University improved by three shots to knock off the Royals by 10 to claim the team title at The Club at Irish Creek on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons were led by Troy Bulmer’s 72,-71 on the 7,099-yard, par-71 layout.
Bulmer would finish fifth overall with his 143 while Tyson Louth finished tied for eighth after improving two shots on Tuesday with a 74-72. Teammate Chadd Marburger finished in the same spot shooting 146 while Michael Blair and Luiz Jacintho tied for 14th with 148’s. Blair posted identical 74’s while Jacintho improve four shots on Tuesday after a chilly, drizzle-filled Monday going 76-72.
Pfeiffer’s “B” team finished sixth in the 10-team field led by Cameron Fields’ 74-76 tied for 20th at 150. Joe Toland, playing as an individual from UNC Charlotte, carded back-to-back 70’s to take medalist honors while Kyle Davis of Queens finished second at 141, firing one of three rounds in the 60’s with a first-round 68. Niklas Lindstrom of Liberty and Lance Wheeler of Appalachian State finished tied for third at 142. Lindstrom threw out an opening round 69 while Wheeler finished Tuesday with a tournament-low 67.
Pfeiffer gets back to action next Monday and Tuesday traveling to the Salisbury Country Club for the annual Richard Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba College.
