Women's Lacrosse Wins Third Player of the Week Award as Melesh Gets Honored in Week #7
April 3, 2012
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Liz Melesh (Annapolis, MD) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week during week number seven of the 2012 season. In their only game of the week, the Lady Falcons scored a 13-10 win over nationally-ranked #12 Florida Southern thanks to Melesh and her five goals and one assist.
Down 2-0 early, Melesh tallied back-to-back goals to tie the contest at 2-2 before later getting the Lady Falcons to within one early in the second half and tying it at the midway point of the period with her fourth goal of the day. The senior midfielder would later add insurance giving the Lady Falcons breathing room over the final 10 minutes on Saturday.
Melesh leads the Lady Falcons with 35 goals on the season, 10 of those in league play, as the Black and Gold get back to action on Thursday hosting nationally-ranked Limestone for a first place Conference Carolinas showdown.
