April 10, 2012
MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer University and visiting Francis Marion University split a non-conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Falcons improve to 18-31 on the year with a 3-2 win in game one while the Patriots move to 29-13 after a 4-0 shutout in game two.
Francis Marion jumped on the board with runs in the first and second on an Olivia Ferguson RBI-single and Sara Broderick run-scoring single. Pfeiffer's three all came in the fourth frame on three-straight RBI-singles from Lindsay Russell, Melanie Conklin and Emily Workman.
Despite making five errors defensively, the Lady Falcons did enough for Russell to earn the win going all seven frames in the circle allowing two runs on four hits.
Errors would come back to haunt Pfeiffer in game two as three more led to four Patriot runs in the sixth. Ashley Jaramillo had a two-run single in the frame while Tristan Faile picked up the other run batted in. All three Pfeiffer errors, eight total on the day, were committed in the sixth.
Pfeiffer now turns to their final home contest of the season on Thursday taking on Limestone in Conference Carolinas action. First pitch with live stats begins at 3:00 p.m.
