Men's Tennis Season Comes to a Close with 6-3 Loss to Erskine; Fleet Takes Final Playoff Spot

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Needing a win on Monday afternoon to clinch a Conference Carolinas tournament bid, the Pfeiffer University men's tennis team came up just short as Erskine doubled up the hosts 6-3 in the 2012 regular season finale on Monday afternoon. The Fleet improve to 5-16 overall, 3-7 in league play while the Falcons end their year at 5-15, 2-8.

Erskine took a 2-1 lead after doubles as Ben Hunter/Sebastian Wernecke scored the lone Falcon point with an 8-0 victory in the first position.

In singles, Diego Oliveira and Ethan Lyon picked up the two other Pfeiffer points as Oliveira won a three-set thriller after dropping the first set 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Lyon won easily in straight-sets 6-2, 6-2.
