Women's Lacrosse Season Comes to an End in 20-10 Loss to #1 Limestone in Conference Semis

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The best team in Conference Carolinas continued their dominated march on Saturday as top-seeded Limestone College doubled up fourth-seeded Pfeiffer University 20-10 in the semifinal round of the 2012 Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse tournament. The Saints improve to 15-1 while the Lady Falcons end 2012 at 9-8.
Limestone started quickly in the first half jumping out to a 7-1 lead in the first 15:26 of action as a Shannon Bonnel tally was the only goal for the Lady Falcons in the second minute of play. Pfeiffer had a mini-run consisting of three goals in a four-goal stretch as Britton Muir, Nadia Salameh and Liz Melesh helped cut the lead in half at 8-4 with 4:10 before the intermission. Jessica Aguanno for Limestone and Sarah Daly for Pfeiffer would try late first half goals as the Saints carried a 9-5 lead into the break.
Limestone would blow the second half open with nine of the first 11 goals including seven-straight in just over a 10-minute span. Kristina Anderson and Daly would score back-to-back for the Lady Falcons just minutes in Racquel Prager would score three in the seven-goal stretch to put the Saints up 18-7, which was just half of her goal total on the day. Melesh and Bonnel added late goals for the visitors, as would Rachel Hebberd with 11 seconds left, to finish off the 2012 season.
Melesh, Bonnel and Daly would each finish with two goals on the day as Melesh will conclude as the team-leader in goals with 48 while Bonnel wraps up on her heels with 46.
