Adams and Enright Bring Wealth of Experience to Men's Basketball Coaching Staff

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University head men’s basketball coach Jeremy Currier has announced the hiring of Matt Adams and Steve Enright who will join the Falcon basketball program as assistant coaches for the 2012-2013 season. Both coaches bring extensive backgrounds to Misenheimer to help guide Falcons into the bright future.

Adams joins the Falcons from Keene State College where he served as the Associate Head Coach for the Owls under head coach Rob Colbert. Adams helped lead Keene State to a 19-8 record and a trip to the Little East Conference semifinals, where they lost to Eastern Connecticut State University in double overtime. Keene spent much of the season ranked in the New England region, and received votes for a top-25 national ranking.

“Matt is one of the bright young coaches in this profession because of his passion, drive, and work ethic,” stated Currier. “I am thrilled to have Matt join our Falcon basketball family as we work to bringing this program back to being one of the finest programs in the country. Matt has been at three successful programs, has worked for tremendous coaches, and demonstrated the ability to recruit and develop championship level student athletes throughout his career.”

Prior to Keene State College, Adams served as an assistant coach for 2012 NABC East Region Coach of the Year, David Chadbourne at Franklin Pierce University in Ringe, New Hampshire. While at Franklin Pierce, Adams served as the recruiting coordinator playing an important role in recruiting the most successful team in program history.

Known as a recruiter, Adams has served as recruiting coordinator for Keene State College, Franklin Pierce University and Rutgers University-Newark. Adams has made an appearance in three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Elite 8 and Sweet 16.  His recruiting experience has landed multiple division one transfers, several players earning rookie of the year and over 50 recruits in his last six years.

Prior to his coaching days at Keene State College, Adams served as a senior captain for the Owls. A prolific outside shooter and three-point specialist during his KSC career, Adams joined the Owls after playing at Keene High School where he was a team captain and offensive MVP as a senior.

Enright, a Rhode Island native, has previously served on the men’s basketball coaching staffs at Mount Ida College with head coach Rico Cabral and Endicott College under head coach Phil Rowe.

“Steve has a tireless work ethic that will immediately impact our basketball program and campus,” said Currier. “Steve will be instrumental in driving this program forward through his work in the community, overseeing our academic support system, and player development. I am thrilled Steve has joined our Falcon basketball family.”

Enright will assist in day to day operations in running the program and will contribute to the Falcons recruiting efforts. Additionally, he will serve as the academic coordinator, video coordinator and will oversee the development of point guards.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the Pfeiffer Basketball family”, said Enright. “Coach Currier has created a winning culture and the program is headed in the right direction. I’m thrilled to be part of it.”

Along with his work at the college level, Enright has extensive experience coaching AAU basketball and on the exposure basketball camp circuit, working with Greg Kristoff (Hoop Mountain) and Adam Finkelstein (New England Recruiting Report) . Prior to moving to the college ranks, he served as an assistant coach at Xaverian Brothers High School (MA) for one season.

Currier, Adams, Enright and the rest of the Falcons are slated to kick off the 2012-2013 men’s basketball season hosting the annual Highway 52 Shootout inside the Merner Gym in mid-November.
