September 4, 2012
GREENWOOD, S.C. - Playing on a soggy pitch with rainy conditions for most of the match, Pfeiffer University fell victim to host Lander 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night. The win keeps the Bearcats unbeaten at 2-0 while the offensive struggles continue for the Falcons falling to 0-3.
Kevin Durand registered a hat trick scoring goals while teammate Matthew Bell did the same with assists. Durand and Bell hooked up just 6:04 in to give Lander a 1-0 lead that would take them into the half.
In the second half, Durand would strike with his second of the night in the 66th minute before partnering with Bell in the 74th minute to complete the hat trick. Clemente Dauchy tallied the final goal with 1:45 to play with Bell assisting for his third and final time.
Lander outshot Pfeiffer 13-7 with three of the Falcons' attempts coming from Jaime Sanclemente. The Bearcats took a 7-2 advantage in corners while the Falcons were whistled for a pair of offsides.
The Falcons will now jump into the 2012 Conference Carolinas opener on Saturday traveling to Queens for a 7:30 p.m. matchup in Charlotte.
