Women's Soccer Blanked by #6 Lenoir-Rhyne 4-0; Set School Record for Saves

HICKORY, N.C. - Despite making a school-record 22 saves, Pfeiffer University fell 4-0 to sixth-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday night. The Bears move to 3-0 with their third-straight home win while the Lady Falcons dip to 1-2 with the defeat.
The Bears' Leah Mullins would tally the first of her two on the day in the 16th minute depositing a rebound into the top shelf for a 1-0 lead. Right at the 27th minute, Kendall Smith would put home her second of the year from the right as Lenoir-Rhyne carried a 2-0 lead into the half.
Just under 10 minutes into the second, Mullins hit on her fourth of the season chipping her shot off of Pfeiffer keeper Britt Polly and in. Hanna Kiebel took a bad pass from the Lady Falcons and fired a rocket from just outside the box for the Bears' fourth and final goal in the 73rd minute.
The Bears would fire off 47 shots on the night, 26 on goal. Pfeiffer took four shots on the day, three on goal, led by Katlyn Stevens. Polly would make 14 saves starting in net while Bianca Moeller turned away six in relief.
Pfeiffer will now turn to its 2012 Conference Carolinas opener on Saturday traveling to Queens. The first whistle is set for 5:30 p.m.
