Hill, Jackson and Stevens Net Goals as Women's Soccer Scores 3-2 Road and League Opening Win at Queens
September 8, 2012
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Opening up Conference Carolinas play on Saturday night, Pfeiffer University and Queens had to wait an extra hour due to storms in the area delaying the start. Turns out the wait was well worth it for Pfeiffer after a 3-2 road victory in Charlotte. The Lady Falcons improve to 2-2 overall, winning their conference opener while the Royals fall to 1-3, 0-1.
Hannah Hill opened up the night's festivities with her second of the year in the 25th minute thanks to an assist from Kayla Rodriguez. After a Nadia Butt goal for Queens in the 39th minute, reigning player of the week Aaliyah Jackson would tally her third of the season three minutes later slamming home a loose ball in front of the net.
Insurance at the time and eventual game-winner for the Lady Falcons came off the foot of Katlyn Stevens just two minutes into the second half as her shot from the left found the right side of the goal for a 3-1 lead. The Royals would add their final goal in the 54th minute from Diamond Russos.
Britt Polly would notch the win in net for Pfeiffer making 11 saves in net, four of which came in the match's final seven minutes. Queens led 18-11 overall in shots, 8-3 in corners despite the loss. Each team was whistled for one offsides call.
Next up for the Lady Falcons will be the start of a three-game homestand in Conference Carolinas play beginning Wednesday afternoon against Limestone. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. with live stats being available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
