September 12, 2012
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Visiting Limestone College broke open a 1-0 game at the half with three second half goals en route to a 4-0 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints slide to 4-1 overall, winners of four-straight, 2-0 in league play while the Falcons fall to 0-5, 0-2.
Thomas Metzemaekers (Groningen, NETHERLANDS) would put Limestone on the board in the 16th minute for his first of the year before quickly striking to open the second half just 26 seconds in. Metzemaekers’ first goal scored unassisted from just inside the 18-yard box while Thomas McCready (Ellesmere Port, ENGLAND) assisted off a free kick in the second.
Later in the 68th minute, McCready would tally his second goal of the season finding the back of the net directly off a Saints free kick. Sam Orritt (Doncaster, ENGLAND) would register his first of the season just under a minute later.
Pfeiffer’s best opportunities came in the 27th minute as Chandler Ligas (Flowery Branch, GA) just missed to the right after a Falcons corner kick. Corey Davis (Orlando, FL) and Kyle Toler (Charlotte, NC) each added shots late in the first half looking for the leveler.
Pfeiffer will step out of conference play briefly on Sunday afternoon to host Palm Beach Atlantic at N.E. Lefko Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. with live stats will be available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
