Rogers' Late Tally Helps Men's Soccer Avoid Shutout in 4-1 Loss at Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. - The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss at Francis Marion University in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night. The victory pushes the Patriots to 3-6 overall while the Falcons drop to 0-10-1.
Alex Blandin and Cody Farrier would each tally a pair of goals on the night for Francis Marion while Blandin added two assists. Blandin started scoring just 6:15 into the first half before helping on Farrier's goals in the 22nd and 54th minutes.
Just before the hour, Blandin converted his fourth of the year with a tap in goal after Chuy Cruz's shot was deflected in front of the net. Pfeiffer's Robbie Rogers helped avoid the shutout tallying his first of the year in the 79th minute. Rogers snagged a turnover and fired a shot from 20 yards out for the lone Falcons goal.
The Patriots held a decisive 25-7 advantage in shots, 9-1 on goal. Both teams had a pair of corner kick opportunities while Francis Marion was called for three offsides.
Next up for the Falcons will be a match on Saturday at Lees-McRae. Pfeiffer gets back into Conference Carolinas play at 3:00 p.m. in Banner Elk.
