King Pushes Past Men's Soccer 3-0 Using Second Half Spurt

MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė King College would net a pair of second half goals en route to claiming a 3-0 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas menís soccer action on Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Tornado their first of the season moving to 1-12 overall, 1-7 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 0-12-2, 0-7-1.
The Tornado would end the scoreless first half in the 31st minute as Cheo Armstrong (Nashville, TN) tallied his second of the season just inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. Pfeiffer had a quality chance in the 40th minute of play as Kody Sprinkle (Statesville, NC) just missed his first of the year and the equalizer firing his attempt off the crossbar.
In the second half, Luis Alonso (Atlanta, GA) made it a 2-0 advantage punching in his third of the season after a long pass from Thomas Dube (Johnson City, TN) in the 58th minute. The Falcons would again receive an unlucky break just five minutes later as Nick Janes (Morrisville, NC) fired his shot off the crossbar and back down into play. Daniel Grossi (Dundee, SCOTLAND) would add insurance in the 69th minute for King on Alonso cross from the right side.
The Tornado held a minimal 16-13 shots advantage on the day, firing 10 of those on goal. Each team would take three corners and be whistled for four offside calls in the match.
Next up for the Falcons will be a trip north to Barton on Wednesday night. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Wilson.†
