Polly Makes Crucial Saves and Convert Game-Winning Penalty Kick as Women's Soccer Advances to Championship Match on Saturday

BOONE, N.C. - Pfeiffer University goalkeeper Britt Polly made two saves followed by converting the game-winner advancing the Lady Falcons to the 2012 Conference Carolinas tournament championship with a 4-1 shootout win. The win officially goes down as a 0-0 double overtime draw as the fourth-seeded Lady Falcons move to 10-6-3 overall ending the top-seeded Bobcats season at 12-5-2.

After 110 scoreless minutes of regulation and overtime, Brittany Papaj would connect on the first PK attempt while Polly stopped the Bobcats first attempt. Sarah Yates would make it 2-for-2 for Pfeiffer before Kayla Rodriguez and Polly hit on the final two attempts needed. Lees-McRae would only convert the middle of their three attempts.

Lees-McRae would outshoot the Lady Falcons 24-11 overall, 7-3 in overtime without being able to find the back of the net.

Pfeiffer will now advance to Saturday's tournament championship at Belmont Abbey. Match time will be 1:00 p.m. with the winner clinching the league's automatic berth into the NCAA National Tournament.
