November 17, 2012
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Visiting King College used a 54% shooting afternoon to claim a 103-78 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Tornado put five players in double-figures improving to 3-0 on the year, 1-0 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 0-4, 0-1.
Pfeiffer raced out to an early lead on a three-pointer from Josh Humphrey (Matthews, NC) and dunk from Jerod Wallace (Charlotte, NC) but a three-point play by Eddie Piccinini (Orlando, FL) started the King comeback beginning a 16-0 run with 17:45 to play in the first half.
A layup by Silvere Aluko (Manchester, NH) would help the Falcons slim the lead down to seven midway through the half before the Tornado ran out on another 14-2 run as Logan Lyle (Unicoi, TN) would eventually make six-straight free throws in that stretch.
Pfeiffer would briefly mount a pair of comeback attempts in the second half slicing the lead down to 11 on an AJ Clark (Burlington, NC) jumper a three-ball from Kenny Tappin (Hyattsville, MD) until the Tornado would tally the next six and eight points from those 11-point marks increasing the lead once again.
Lyle led King with 19 points on the afternoon followed by Jason Seymore’s (Powell, TN) double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. Humphrey would lead all scorers on the day with 25 for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer will now turn to Tuesday night in search of their first victory hosting Lees-McRae before the Thanksgiving break. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with live stats and video being available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
