Women's Basketball Suffers First Loss of Season at Limestone; Cox Moves into 8th on All-Time Scoring List
November 27, 2012
GAFFNEY, S.C. - A sluggish first half was too much to overcome in the second half as Pfeiffer University suffered an 87-50 loss at Limestone in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action on Tuesday night. The Saints improve to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in league play while the Lady Falcons drop their first game of the year falling to 4-1, 2-1.
Limestone opened the contest on a 14-2 run and back it with a 15-7 run for a 29-9 lead through the first 10 minutes of the first half. Jodie Lemons and Bridget Rothert triples would be an attempt to jump start the Lady Falcons offense as Lemons would score nine of Pfeiffer's 20 first half points.
The Lady Falcons would manage a much better second half as Lemons finished the night with a team-high 13 points while Brittany Cox would move into eighth on Pfeiffer's all-time scoring list after her 11 points. Limestone would hold a 54-18 points in the paint advantage while converting 26 Pfeiffer turnovers into 45 points on the offensive end.
All five starters for Limestone finished the night in double-figures led by Stephanie Hayes and Maria Young's 16 points on 50% shooting.
The Lady Falcons get back on the floor hosting Mars Hill in non-conference action on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
