Humphrey's Game-High 25 Not Enough as Men's Basketball Falls 89-65 at Limestone
November 27, 2012
GAFFNEY, S.C. - A late second half burst allowed host Limestone College to score an 89-65 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Tuesday night. The Saints improve to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in league play despite Josh Humphrey pouring in a game-high 25 points as the Falcons dip to 1-5, 1-2.
A Humphrey three knocked the Limestone lead down to just a half-dozen at 61-55 with 9:37 to play in the second half before the Saints went out on a 15-4 run that created the final bit of seperation. A Tayron Gibson free throw after a Kenny Tappin layup helped the Falcons get back to within 14 with just over five minutes to play, but Limestone would again busted loose with a 11-1 streak to close out the contest.
Pfeiffer would carry an early 10-9 lead three minutes into the first half before eventually having to chip away at a 15-point deficit. Back-to-back three's from Gibson would help start a 10-2 run while a Humphrey triple knocked it back down to six at 30-24 in the closing minutes of the first half.
Behind Humphrey's game-high 25 points, the senior guard would just miss out on a double-double adding nine rebounds. Gibson would also finish in double-figures scoring 15. PJ Foster led the Saints with 19 points of 7-of-10 shooting from the field.
Next up for the Falcons will be a non-conference home tilt with Lincoln (PA) on Monday night. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. with live stats and video being available courtesy of http://www.gofalconsports.com.
